Designing Your Website for Your Author Brand

They say first impressions count, and that couldn't be put more adequately in this particular instance.

Your website is not only your calling card but a platform to display your writing talent.  Which is why you need a website that not only performs well, is easy to navigate but really captures your readers attention first time round.

Why Authors Need a Website

This is a no-brainer in the age of the internet.  Like I mentioned in the previous paragraph you can display all of your writing talents and more with a well-built site.

A website is a way of connecting and starting a community with your audience.  Your aim should be to build a following of like-minded people who are eager to learn and will eventually want to buy your books so that they'll come back again and again to your site to see what you have published.

If you want to make money from your writing and want the world to know who you are, then you definitely need to start your own website.

You can read more about starting your own Blogger blog here.

When you create your own author website you'll be able to show:

  1. Your readers where they can contact you for reviews and questions.
  2. Information about email updates.
  3. Where your readers can find your latest books as well as any previously published works.
  4. Your current writing projects and useful information you want to share via blog posts.
  5. Your readers a taste of who you are and what you're about in your biography.

The Benefits of Having Your Own Author Website

Your author website will:

Ownership

At the moment most authors are still using social media, but there are a lot of changes going on, and no one knows how long the social media bubble will last.  That is why its essential to still have your own author platform where you can show off your books and services.

Networking

Creating a website means you open new doors to opportunities to grow your business.  Enables you to spread yourself across the internet through guest articles, interviews, and other publications.

Collaboration

If you're really successful with your writing and your blogging you may have publishers knocking on your door.  Your website and social media will tell a publisher what you have to offer and how successful you've become.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is a useful tool to use and will help you capture new leads and nurture your audience.

Engagement

Engagement is key to growing a readership that will follow you and you're writing for years to come.

Credibility

The way you present yourself and your website will give you credibility which will help build authority for your brand online.

Access to Your Books

Access is what you want, and lots of it.  You don't just want your readers to go to Amazon or whichever platform you're selling your books from.  You want them to come straight to the source, which is you.
